This part of IEC 62271 specifies requirements for internal arc classification of metal enclosed pole-mounted switchgear used for alternating current of rated voltages above 1 kV and up to and including 52 kV for outdoor pole-mounted installations, and for service frequencies up to and including 60 Hz. Although primarily dedicated to three-phase systems, this standard is also applicable to single-phase and two-phase systems. Enclosures may include fixed and removable components and may be filled with fluid (liquid or gas) to provide insulation.
