Description / Abstract:
This standard comprises a manual of procedures to be followed in
the delineation of drawings which depict fluid power systems. Fluid
power systems are those that transmit and control power through use
of a pressurized fluid (liquid or gas) within an enclosed
circuit.
Purpose
It is the purpose of this standard to provide drafting practices
for drawings which depict hydraulic or pneumatic circuits. Such
drawings differ in many ways from most other engineering drawings.
Explanatory notes and data are required in order to convey complete
and proper information. The amount of information provided and the
type of diagram used depend largely on the intended purposes which
satisfy the requirements of both supplier and user.
Four types of diagrams are discussed in this standard, graphic,
pictorial, cutaway, and combination. Of the four the greatest
emphasis is placed on Graphic diagrams.
