Preface
Thirty-six years have elapsed since the publication of the last set of h-v charts for steam. In the interval, new knowledge of the properties of steam and compressed liquid water have been developed and have been incorporated in the several reports of the Sixth InternationaCl onference on the Properties of Steam.
With the introduction of the SI (Metric) units, a new and distinct need has emerged for steam properties in graphical form. As there will probably be a protracted time during which both the U.S. customary and SI (Metric) units will be in use, both are included in this book.
This compilation of charts is designed to serve the need for a compact portable volume covering the properties of superheated and wet steam, as well as compressed liquid water, in both systems of units. The book should prove useful to students and to engineers in operating, field, or design assignments.
