Description / Abstract: The object of this Code is to provide methods and procedures for testing water spray cooling systems under normal use as follows:

(a) To determine overall performance of spray cooling systems, including thermal performance, certain environmental effects (drift and sound) and certain other aspects for specific installations under normal use.

(b) To establish the procedure of the measurement of other items as required.

The scope of this Code includes the instruments, test procedure, and method to determine the overall performance of the spray cooling system involving some or all of the following measurements:

(a) Circulating water flow entering the spray cooling system

(b) Sprayed water flow

(c) Make-up water quantity

(d) Blowdown quantity

(e) Drift

(f) Circulating hot water temperature

(g) Circulatingcold water temperature

(h) Make-up water temperature

(i) Blowdown water temperature

(i) Wetand dry-bulb temperature of ambient air

(k) Wind speed and direction

(I) Spray system pumping head

(m) Power input to prime movers

(n) Sound level of the spray system and the mechanical equipment

(o) Weather conditions

(p) Water analysis

(q) Total water loss from the system

(r) Atmospheric pressure
