Description / Abstract: The plan in this Section is based on the concept of quality assurance through in-process control. It establishes specific inspection functions that must be performed during each process and at each operation involving the production of fasteners, with the objective of producing finished fasteners that shall conform to all customer requirements as specified in engineering drawings, related standards, and/or specifications.

The general plan presents a uniform control procedure that is intended to be applicable to all important characteristics used in the manufacture of fasteners. Adherence to the characteristic requirements of this plan does not release the contractor from responsibility of exercising due care in the production of all parts to ensure that the requirements established for all characteristics shown on engineering drawings and related specifications have been met. This plan requires that records of verification of material analysis, in-process inspection, and testing, as well as final inspection, all traceable to restricted size lots and shipping destination, be maintained.
